Authority

And the commander of the Lord’s Army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:15 ESV)

Authority

No matter how much authority you think you have, there is always someone higher.

Authority in the family is always relative.  Authority in government is always relative.  Authority in the business world is always relative.  Authority in the church is always relative.  Authority in a community is always relative.

Even Joshua, the commander-in-chief of Israel… was under a Commander’s authority.

Authority in every situation is  relative.

Except one.

That Commander of the Lord’s Army was not just some soldier on the field outside Jericho.  It was the second person of the Trinity.  It was God Himself.  It was the Person who was eventually born in Bethlehem.

And He always is the One in authority.
