God’s Faithfulness ---- Smelling
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9 ESV)
Dirty socks are stinky socks. Dirty automobile trunks are stinky automobile socks. Dirty dishes are stinky dishes.
Unclean things have a smell, an odor, a stench.
While perhaps mostly in a metaphorical sense, our sins and unrighteousness are dirty, and smelly, and stinky.
But God is faithful to clean up our stench-causing dirt.
He is faithful to His promise to forgive. Really forgive, not just a hope for forgiveness. Really forgive, not just a symbol of cleansing. Really forgive, not just a future holiness.
God is faithful to remove our stench.
