Personal Letters
The book of Revelation displays letters from Jesus to seven of His churches.
Scripture is unique in that the Bible was written both to ALL of God’s people, and specifically to particular individuals, groups, or churches. Usually, unfortunately, we use that dichotomy to pay less attention to the Word of God. Where it presses us more when perceived as a General book, we choose to think of it as specific, but not to US. When it presses us more when perceived as a book to specific recipients, we choose to think of it as a general book.
Over the next few days, read these letters. See what He might be saying to YOU. I will make some brief suggestions, but consider reading the letter from Jesus to these churches, but read them as if He is writing to you… to your church… to our church… to THE church more than to A church.
