II John I
…whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all who know the truth, because of the truth that abides in us and will be with us forever. . (II John 1,2 ESV)
True Doctrine
We usually think of love as emotional, internal, and subjective.
But love is found in truth.
Love is observed in truth.
Love exists because of truth.
Not mere mathematical truth, or Sherlock Holmes truth, or Supreme Court truth, or World Book Encyclopedia truth.
Those kins of truth, as useful as they are, are not real, full truth. The kind of truth that leads to love.
Love is found in the truth of God.
Love is observed in the truth of God.
Love exists because of the truth of God.
So doctrine matters!
